Belt-driven, lead screw driven, and rack and pinion actuators are available. The belt-driven actuators are rated for speeds up to 5 m/s while avoiding frictional heat problems, the lead screw actuators are ideal for lower speed applications with heavy loads up to 5,625 lbs, and rack and pinion actuators are suitable for many positioning and adjustment tasks in the vertical plane and are 30% more cost-effective than belt deflection. Additionally, all drylin linear actuators are resistant to dirt and maintenance-free while also remaining lightweight and quieter than recirculating ball bearing systems. igus® offers electrically driven actuators, also called electric motors, as well.
