Curved drylin® linear rails and energy chains for the rotation of igus® make monitors movable

Application: An old water tower was converted into the central control room for monitoring the water supply.  
The space in the upper part of this tower is used as a training centre that focuses on the environmentally friendly use of water resources and as a meeting room for the company management and its partners.
As an aid for future training purposes, 6 movable television screens were set up in 2 rows, which move around the room in a radius of 6.8 m and at an angle of 180°.
In addition, there are another 6 movable television screens in the upper conference room, which are arranged in a single row. These television screens move in a circle with a radius of 5.9 m and an angle of 45°.

drylin W curve rails undertake the guidance of the monitors. We could use the linear rail WS-10-120.

Matching the curved rail, igus was also able to deliver the carriages directly.  WWB-10-120-10 - The larger version of the WWB-10-40-10  already available in the shop.

In addition to rails and carriages, igus also supplied the power supply for the monitors and the protective Reverse Bend Radius energy chains

Problem

At the beginning of the whole project we faced several challenges. Two of these challenges were:
 
1. How would the TV screens be mechanically guided in a circular room?
2.  How do we bring the power and data supply to the moving TV screens?  
 
We also wanted to keep the maintenance effort as low as possible so that the scheduled meetings and training sessions would not have to be suspended for maintenance work.
 
Thanks to the support of igus®, we did not have to search long for the individual components and were very happy to be able to get everything from one source.  
 

Solution

We developed the solution together with igus®:
 
Curved rails in installation size 10-120-10 to guide the monitors along the round wall.
 
Curved carriage WWB-10-120-10 - Maintenance-free and lubrication-free with very quiet operation.
 
Energy chains Reverse Bend Radius 2400.03.100 & 2400.03.100 specially designed for rotating movements
 
In the Reverse Bend Radius energy chains we then installed the chainflex CF9.10.04 , also manufactured by igus®, for the energy supply.  
 
For data transmission CFBUS.049 and CFPE.25.01 for the ground connection.
 
We always had a contact person - igus® - and always found ourselves well advised.
