Our 7th axis can be used individually and flexibly. It extends the action radius of common lightweight robots by up to 6000 mm (according to technical design), making them much more flexible in their applications. The drylin® toothed belt axis ZLW-20200 is ideally suited as a wide flat linear axis. An adapter kit is available for this axis for direct connection with common lightweight robots via digital I/Os. Optionally, the ZLW-20200 toothed belt axis can be supplied ready for connection with the matching adapter kit or the adapter kit can be supplied separately. The linear axis can be used for applications with precision requirements of 0.3 mm at a load of up to 55 kg. This type of accessory has a max. speed of up to 0,3 m/s. The appropriate robot software can be controlled via digital I/Os. Optionally, the axis can be ordered with or without a controller. To control the axis, the
DLE-IO-0001 control system is required. Our 7th axis is largely made of our tribologically optimised plastics and enables high cost savings. At the same time, a long service life and freedom from maintenance are realised.

Application examplesTypical applications of our 7th axes are pick and place applications, welding applications and many more.
7th axis control for easy entry into automationThe IO unit enables simple and intuitive robot control and programming and thus an easy entry into automation. The direct control cabinet integration via digital I/Os enables an easy and ready-to-connect solution. This means that the 7th axis can be moved within a very short time. The solution is currently possible with the following robot manufacturers: igus robolink, Epson, Universal Robot, Omron, Franka Emika, Doosan, Kawasaki, ABB, Fanuc, Kuka, and many more. A master controller is not necessary.
If you want to use your own (robot) controller, that is also no problem.
Alternatively, it is also possible to operate each axis individually with a controller. For example with our igus® dryve D1 motor controller. With this control architecture, you need one motor control per linear axis or motor and an additional master control, which controls the coordination of the movement.
The motor controls are not part of the article and can be obtained from us as an option. A master control is currently not offered by igus.
