Drilling platform

High costs, numerous manual processes and a high safety risk for workers. A new robot-supported solution compensates all these negative factors associated with working on an oil drilling platform. An independently working drilling platform system for use on land or offshore has been developed. The innovative robot acts completely independently – chooses suitable drilling elements, moves them to the perfect position and uses them. The robot lifts very precise and lifts weights up to 1.500kg. Here, several RBR systems with e-chains® are used in the robot’s joints; these are responsible for the supply of power and data as well as media. The technical development, which was extremely complex due to the limited design space available, was taken over by the igus® Project Engineering Team.
